Class 01—February 6th and 7th
This week we are starting a new module, working on different types of classes: Song and Movie classes. Teenagers tend to like these kinds of classes, so we have to pay attention to the goals and make sure we don’t lose focus.
In this first extra class, we are going to explore the song “Firework” by Kate Perry. The class goal is to encourage students to interact and talk about their preferences in music and their own lives. Now let’s analyze the activities.
Activity 1—Warm-up. Use type of Interaction 1. Create a relaxed atmosphere and encourage them to talk about their lives and give their opinion; have some situations prepared to help you guide the debate (e.g., bad grades, punishments, brothers and sisters, parents, etc.).
Activity 2—Interview. Type of Interaction 2. Before starting, write some questions and chunks on the board to help INTRO and A1 students; give them an example about yourself. Let them interact freely, walking around the room and interviewing their classmates. Ask them to present and close the activity with a chat. For correction, use Note Taking + Feedback.
Activity 3—Celebrations. Type of Interaction 1. Explore vocabulary related to the song. Type of Interaction 2. Promote a group chat; students write the list together. Make sure you keep board record of it. For correction, use Rephrasing.
Activity 4—The Song. Use type of Interaction 1. Answer the questions with the group as a chat. Type of Interaction 2. Hand out the lyrics to them, play the song, and encourage them to sing along or to stand up and perform.

Class 02—February 8th and 9th
In this second extra class, we are going to work on the song “Price Tag” by Jessie J. The class goal is to practice vocabulary related to money and shopping and interact about the effects of money on people’s lives. Now let’s analyze the activities:
Activity 1—Warm-up. Type of Interaction 2. Start the class by telling students that the song is about money and life. Ask them how important money is for them and also ask the question presented in the activity. Don´t forget to write chunks to give opinion on the board. Run this activity as a group chat and use Rephrasing for mistakes.
Activity 2—The Song. Type of Interaction 2. Hand out the lyrics and play the song. Then arrange them in groups and help them write the paragraphs; use Group Correction before they present. Finish the activity with a group debate, checking if they have different opinions, agreeing or disagreeing with their classmates.
Activity 3—Vocabulary. Type of Interaction 2. It is a game, so do the activity together with the group, keeping board record of it. Explore related words on the board, as suggested in the TG. Use Class Correction.
Activity 4—Debate. Type of Interaction 2. Run this activity as a group debate; don’t forget to write vocabulary and chunks on the board to help lower levels. Talk about your life to involve them in the conversation. Close the activity by playing the song.
